From the time we’re born we’re learning and as we grow our ideas grow we go to school to pick up tools like reading and writing math science skills for investigating the world around us skills that everybody needs but we’re not everybody.
We have our own talents and interests things we’re curious about imagination and skill things that will be important in the future and while right now we might just consider them hobbies well the world needs them.
Imagine what if talents you already had or interest you’d like to pursue things that you’re curious about could be potential career paths for you imagine being paid to do what you love a capstone project is designed to give you that opportunity to deeply pursue something that interests you personally and it can look a lot of different ways one option is the research capstone this might be a topic you’ve always wanted to know more about and it’ll give you the time to interview experts or pursue documents and uncover the truth and present it to others around you maybe you’re really into art or music and you’ve always wanted to host a festival imagine contacting venues and organizing artists in order to undertake and invent at this level or perhaps you have a question you’ve always wanted the answer to in an experimental project you could design your own experiment test your hypothesis collect data and share your results or perhaps there’s a cause that’s very near and dear to your heart where you’d like to volunteer your time or create a project in order to support and perhaps you’re interested in the work force and ready to get out in a professional environment to see if a particular career path is right for you.
All of those are capstone projects but what they all have in common is that they’re chosen by you and don’t worry if you don’t know exactly what you want to do just yet we’ll work together over the next few years including the help of a learning committee that you put together to help design a project that lets you explore and share your ideas with the rest of the world it’s just one more way to make us curious lifelong learners you.
