One Piece is a popular anime and manga series created by Eiichiro Oda. It follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his friends, as they travel the seas in search of the world’s ultimate treasure, “One Piece.” The manga has been published since 1997 and is still ongoing.
In the most recent chapters, Zoro faces off against an enemy swordsman named Kuzan who never laughs or smiles – not even when he’s injured or beaten. This is because he knows that once he starts laughing again, he will die. His fate is sealed because of his inability to laugh.
This blog post will be about Zoro and the man who never laughed.

Zoro’s past
Before one can understand the motivation behind Zoro’s transformation, it’s important to understand Zoro’s original appearance.
His father, Kiyohime, is a monster hunter by trade, and he’s very well-known in the seas as “Dragon Slayer”. The role has given Zoro a cold, hard heart which he likely hasn’t forgiven himself for. He is also the illegitimate son of a childless wealthy noble, but Kiyohime refuses to take care of the boy as he prepares to be the king of Redwood City.
When Zoro is a child, he’s badly injured in an explosion, but instead of dying or needing time to heal, Kiyohime imprisons him. Years later, he’s rescued by his mother, Tenma.
Although Zoro initially tries to rebel against her, he finds a mentor in her.
Why is Zoro so serious?
Luffy and his Straw Hat crew have managed to become one of the most important groups in the world’s most powerful empire in a mere few days. The Luffy and his crew have found themselves in a predicament.
Luffy and his crew have found themselves in a predicament. The Straw Hats are enjoying their time off, but still an incredibly dangerous mission looms ahead. The Straw Hats are part of the more powerful pirate league in the world, but their recent defeat at the hands of the Elrik’s Pirates shows that they aren’t quite as powerful as they thought they were.
There are plenty of reasons why Luffy and his crew should be less than serious.
How did Zoro become a pirate?
So, One Piece has an official list of characteristics for the Straw Hat Pirates. What’s our captain’s most notable accomplishment?
Well, it’s not actually a big surprise: Luffy’s the last known hope of the One Piece world.
But what’s funny is how unique Zoro’s achievement is. Of all the Straw Hats, the strong-willed Zoro is the only one who actually chooses to become a pirate. At this point, even with the Manji curse hanging over him, Zoro could’ve gone back to his old life. (If he wasn’t so fickle and did actually give up his captaincy, Luffy and Nami would be on their own.)
I think what makes Zoro’s change so strange is that it wasn’t a change of heart. The One Piece manga’s Zoro is still easily the most cheerful character.
Conclusion
Hopefully, this list is a good primer for those who are yet to pick up their first series, and gives you some ideas of how to catch up to the people and events that will definitely happen in the series. While all of these series will be set at least three years in the future from when the manga started, the comics have been running for over 600 chapters and the anime is currently in its seventh season. Keep in mind, if you don’t have the means to grab each and every single series on this list, there are hundreds of other excellent series that are just as enjoyable.
Besides, the time will be right for you to catch up when One Piece reaches its finale in 2019. While the final season might be filled with some tear-jerking moments, it’s also bound to be filled with intense action.
